The Tudor Chronotime 79160 belongs to the "Oysterdate Chrono-Time" family Tudor introduced in 1989, nicknamed the "Big Block" for the taller case needed to house the Valjoux caliber 7750 automatic movement, a jump from Tudor's earlier, slimmer manually wound chronographs. (Hodinkee) A first-generation 79160 carries a silver dial, black subsidiary registers, a black tachymeter bezel, and trapezoidal hour indexes; because Tudor still sourced cases and crowns from parent company Rolex, early examples carry Rolex's own coronet and Triplock signatures.
