Vulcain Cricket
More actions
The Vulcain Cricket is the alarm wristwatch Vulcain introduced in 1947 after five years of development, solving the volume problem with a second mainspring barrel dedicated to the alarm and a perforated case back that lets an internal membrane resonate loudly against the wrist. (Fratello Watches) The hand-wound Calibre 120 movement it introduced made the Cricket the first wristwatch with a genuinely audible mechanical alarm, and Harry Truman's own example set off a run of presidential wrists, Eisenhower's, Johnson's, and Nixon's among them, that earned the watch its "Watch of Presidents" nickname. Vulcain revived the Cricket name and caliber after a 2001 relaunch, and continues to produce Cricket models today, including a titanium-cased Calibre V14 execution.
