Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph is the chronograph branch of the Royal Oak, introduced in 1997 for the model's twenty-fifth anniversary, twenty-five years after Gérald Genta drew the original as a steel watch priced like a gold one, with an octagonal bezel held by eight visible hexagonal screws over a Grande Tapisserie dial. The first generation, reference 25860, kept a 39 mm case and integrated bracelet and ran the calibre 2385, Audemars Piguet's build of the Frédéric Piguet 1185; collectors call it the "Kasparov" after the chess champion who wore one. The 26320 that replaced it and the 26331 that followed moved the line to 41 mm. (Grail Watch)
