Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore End of Days

Worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger as Jericho Cane. An all-black Offshore with yellow accents, co-designed with Schwarzenegger for the film. Montres de Luxe reports that Audemars Piguet, a favorite of Schwarzenegger's on and off screen, released the tie-in as a 500-piece limited edition timed to the film's late-1999 release: a black PVD-coated steel case with a black dial, yellow hour, minute and numeral markings, and a black Kevlar strap with a Velcro closure, at Schwarzenegger's own insistence that the watch be entirely black. (Montres de Luxe) Phillips' own 2022 auction catalog names a distinct AP prototype (case No. 248) as the actual piece worn on set, a near-identical but separately built unit gifted to producer Bill Borden after filming; the scene does not resolve the prototype-versus-retail distinction. (Phillips) Quill & Pad's history of the Offshore adds that "four Offshore Ref. 25770SN.OO.0001.AR.01 were made" for the film, "which Arnold Schwarzenegger wore during the filming of the movie". Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph

Worn by Gabriel Byrne as The Man. The Man, the banker Satan takes over, wears an Audemars Piguet as well. Bonhams' Fine Watches & Wristwatches sale (London, New Bond Street, 11 June 2013) sold lot 305 as "a stainless steel automatic calendar bracelet watch, worn by the actor Gabriel Byrne in the film, 'End of Days'", a steel Royal Oak with chronograph registers for 30 minutes and 12 hours, "bright blue hobnail dial", small seconds at 6 and date at 4, case no. E-8961, sold "together with letter of provenance from the actor Gabriel Byrne". The essay names the model and case number but no reference; it dates the watch circa 1999, the era of the 39 mm first-generation 25860, yet gives the size as 41 mm, so the execution stays open. Sold for £7,250 with premium. (Bonhams lot 305)
