Koji Yakusho (born 1 January 1956 in Isahaya, Nagasaki) is a Japanese actor active since 1978 whose international breakthrough came with Shall We Dance? (1996), followed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Cure (1997) and the ensemble samurai film 13 Assassins (2010). He won Best Actor at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival for Wim Wenders' Perfect Days and has taken multiple Japan Academy Film Prizes across a five-decade career. He plays Fukushima Daiichi plant manager Masao Yoshida in Netflix's THE DAYS (2023), a dramatization of the 2011 nuclear disaster. (Wikipedia)
