Sharon Stone (born 1958, Meadville, Pennsylvania) is an American actress who spent a decade in supporting roles before Basic Instinct made her a global star in 1992, and followed it with an Academy Award nomination as Ginger McKenna in Martin Scorsese's Casino. She played the biochemist Beth Halperin in Barry Levinson's Sphere. She has since combined acting with sustained work on AIDS fundraising. (Wikipedia)
