Toru Nakamura (born 5 September 1965 in Ota, Tokyo) is a Japanese actor active since 1985, selected from nearly 6,000 candidates for the lead of Be-Bop High School (1985) while still a university student; he won the Japan Academy Film Prize for Best New Actor and went on to headline all five of its sequels. His international work includes Lou Ye's Purple Butterfly (2003) opposite Zhang Ziyi and Bok Geo-il's 2009: Lost Memories alongside Jang Dong-gun, for which he won a Grand Bell Award for Best Supporting Actor. He plays Yasumasa Kuchiki, the unsmiling "blue ogre" squad leader, across TV Tokyo's two-part Hideo Yokoyama special Chinmoku no Alibi and Monochrome no Hanten (both 2020), and plays bombing-case suspect Hiroshi Takahara in Cold Case 3 the same year.
