The Omega Seamaster PloProf ("plongeur professionnel," French for "professional diver") is the outsized dive watch Omega engineered in 1970 for COMEX saturation divers, reference 166.077: a monobloc steel case that opens from the front instead of a conventional caseback, a bulky orange-tipped bezel-lock button, and a rating of 600 metres. Omega revived the design in 2009 as the Seamaster PloProf 1200M, keeping the slab-sided case and orange accents while rating the reissue to 1,200 metres, sold since across black and blue dials on steel bracelets and rubber straps. (Omega) Its outsized, asymmetric case reads as an unmistakably technical dive watch.
