The Rolex Sea-Dweller is the saturation-diving line Rolex launched in 1967. Its one-way helium escape valve releases gas accumulated during prolonged stays in pressurised habitats, preventing decompression from forcing off the crystal. The original 40 mm reference 1665 was rated to 610 metres; the rating rose to 1,220 metres in 1978. Rolex still produces the line as the 43 mm reference 126600, powered by the automatic calibre 3235.
