Hideaki Ito is a Japanese actor born 3 August 1975 in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture, and raised in Gifu. He became a leading man through the Umizaru coast-guard action franchise, one of Japanese cinema's most commercially successful series, won the Japan Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Wood Job! (2014), and has since ranged into Takashi Miike's Sukiyaki Western Django, Lesson of the Evil, HBO's Tokyo Vice (as detective Jin Miyamoto), and the 2025 Netflix series Last Samurai Standing. He plays traditional dance master Yoshisaburo Umemura, embroiled in the inheritance dispute at the center of Matrilineal Family, TV Asahi's 2021 adaptation of Toyoko Yamasaki's novel, and crime-organization enforcer Haruki Nikaido in Knuckle Girl.
