My Best Friend's Story

My Best Friend's Story (流金岁月) is a 38-episode Chinese drama directed by Shen Yan, adapted from Yi Shu's novel The Golden Years, that aired on CCTV-8 and iQIYI from December 28, 2020 to January 15, 2021. It follows the decades-long friendship of two Shanghai women: Liu Shishi plays Jiang Nansun, and Ni Ni plays Zhu Suosuo, a striving young woman caught between the wealthy, much older Ye Jinyan, played by Chen Daoming, and Dong Zijian's Xie Hongzu, the childhood friend she eventually marries. Two xbiao.com writers put the same Sedna gold Speedmaster on the rich heir Xie Hongzu. 芯选 (Watchoosy)'s January 2021 survey, written while the drama was on air, describes it as an Omega Speedmaster in a higher specification than Jiang Nansun's, the CK2998 re-edition in an 18-karat rose-gold case, and sets a frame of Xie with his arms crossed beside the product shot; 王莹莹's August 2021 follow-up names the reference, 311.63.40.30.02.001, the "First Omega in Space" tribute to the CK 2998 that Wally Schirra wore in orbit in 1962, and prints a theme-park frame of Xie and Zhu Suosuo in matching veils with the watch on his wrist. Ye Jinyan's secretary Fan Jingang wears a round rose-gold watch with a light dial on a brown strap, visible on his wrist as he leans over a desk in a tan suit, and the two xbiao.com writers disagree about what it is. 王莹莹 identifies a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Date in pink gold, reference 1232510, reading its eggshell dial as a secretary's discreet match for his boss's Jaeger-LeCoultre taste. 芯选 (Watchoosy) had earlier found no clear shot of the watch until the buckle came into view at the bottom right of the frame at 19 minutes 41 seconds into episode 19, and reads that pin buckle as a copy of Jaeger-LeCoultre's new design in a shape the maker never produced, concluding that the prop is a counterfeit Jaeger-LeCoultre.
