The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is the Art Deco rectangular watch introduced in 1931 with a case that slides from its carrier and flips so the solid back shields the crystal, a design commissioned so British officers in India could play polo without shattering their watches. (Jaeger-LeCoultre) The line has run almost continuously since, in materially different executions: small manually wound Classiques, the larger Grande Taille, Tribute editions, and two-dial Duoface models whose flip side carries a second time zone, so no single reference covers its screen record.
