Rolex GMT-Master II
More actions
The Rolex GMT-Master II is the second-generation form of the dual-time watch Rolex developed in the mid-1950s with Pan American World Airways, whose pilots needed home and local time at a glance. On the original GMT-Master the 24-hour hand and the hour hand moved together; the GMT-Master II, which arrived in the early 1980s as the thick-cased reference 16760 "Fat Lady" with calibre 3085, freed the local hour hand so it could be jumped in one-hour steps, leaving the rotating 24-hour bezel free to track a third zone. The family has stayed at 40 mm across references 16760, 16710, 116710 and 126710, moving from aluminium bezel inserts to two-colour Cerachrom ceramic, and the red-and-blue "Pepsi" and red-and-black "Coke" bezels remain its signatures.
