The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is the foundation of the modern Rolex line and the plainest watch the company makes: the waterproof Oyster case of the 1920s married in the early 1930s to the Perpetual self-winding rotor, with nothing added on top: no date, no complication, just hours, minutes and seconds. It has been offered continuously since, in a range of case sizes; reference 124300, introduced in 2020, is the 41 mm Oystersteel version, with a polished domed bezel, an Oyster bracelet and the calibre 3230, a Superlative Chronometer with Rolex's Chronergy escapement and roughly 70 hours of power reserve. It is also the line where Rolex is boldest with colour, the 2020 range adding lacquered turquoise, yellow, coral red and green dials. (Monochrome, aBlogtoWatch)
