In 1980s Indiana, a group of young friends witness supernatural forces and secret government exploits. As they search for answers, the children unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer and running on Netflix from 2016, the series is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, where a government laboratory's experiments tear open a gateway to a parallel dimension the characters come to call the Upside Down. Its period-correct props are part of the appeal, and the wrists of the young cast carry an unusually thorough sample of early-1980s digital and game watches. (IMDb)
Watches
- Armitron FM Radio Watch 40-6351
- Worn by Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson. By the Starcourt summer of season three Dustin has swapped his black Casio for Armitron's FM Stereo Radio Watch, the resin 40/6351 of 1981 whose ridged dial tunes 88–108 MHz and plays through headphones plugged into the case, about the minimum for the party's radio operator, who spends the season relaying Russian intercepts over his Cerebro rig. Netflix's season-three cast portrait shows the tuner dial and red-flanked display clearly on his crossed wrist. (Wrist Enthusiast; Digital Watch Library)
- Caravelle Watch
- Worn by Joe Keery as Steve Harrington. Steve wears a vintage gold-tone Caravelle on a brown leather strap during the Starcourt Mall season. (Montres de Luxe) Wrist Enthusiast instead suggests a vintage gold Hamilton in season 3, saying "it looks like it could be a Hamilton CLD" while noting the lugs look different and it may be "another watch altogether"; the two outlets disagree on the maker and neither gives a reference. (Wrist Enthusiast)
- Timex Atlantis 100
- Worn by David Harbour as Jim Hopper. BAMF Style identifies Hopper's first-season watch, before his later Casio, as a Timex Atlantis 100 digital, its silver case and black resin top ring worn on a custom compass strap. (BAMF Style)
- Casio B-612
- Worn by David Harbour as Jim Hopper. Hopper's silver digital on a steel bracelet is most likely Casio's B-612, the module-350 LCD of 1984 (period-correct for a Hawkins police chief who buys a watch to tell the time and never thinks about it again), but the dial text is never legible on screen, and the similar modern steel B640WD-1A has also been suggested, keeping the match probable rather than confirmed. Season three's cabin scenes give the clearest look. (Wrist Enthusiast; Digital Watch Library) Prop master Lynda Reiss, interviewed by GQ, names "David Harbour's vintage Casio in Stranger Things" as her favourite on-screen piece, and describes her method: options presented to the actor, who "generally make the final choice". (GQ)
- Casio CA-53W-1
- Worn by Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler. Watch-ID places the classic black Casio calculator watch on Mike's wrist from the third season; through the first two seasons his calculator watch is an unbranded piece instead. (Watch-ID)
- Casio F-91W
- Worn by Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson. Watch-ID identifies Dustin Henderson's black digital watch as a Casio F-91W. (Watch-ID)
- Casio F-91W
- Worn by Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson. Eddie Munson, Hellfire Club dungeon master and season four's metalhead outsider, wears the black resin F-91W beside his skull rings. The season is set in 1986 and the F-91W only reached the market in 1989, so the ten-dollar Casio is an anachronism, though few characters suit one better. (Wrist Enthusiast)
- Qbert Nelsonic Game Watch
- Worn by Noah Schnapp as Will Byers. Will Byers wears a Nelsonic game watch running Q*bert, one of the licensed arcade-on-the-wrist LCD watches Nelsonic sold through the 1980s, played with the small buttons ranged across the front of the case. For the character who spends the series being pulled out of ordinary childhood, a watch that is mostly a toy is a pointed piece of costuming. (Watch-ID)
- Swatch Yellow Racer
- Worn by Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield. Max Mayfield's Swatch Yellow Racer (yellow strap and case with a red, green, white and black chequered dial) comes from Swatch's 1984 Originals range, which makes it one of the few watches in the series that is exactly of its moment rather than a few years early or late. Spotters read the small date window at three o'clock as the gents' GJ400 rather than the ladies' LJ100. (WatchRanker)
- Timex Weekender
- Worn by Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers. Jonathan Byers wears a quiet round analog on a dark strap in the first season: polished case, black dial, full Arabic numerals with an inner 24-hour track. The dial matches Timex's Weekender line (closest to the black-dial T2N647), but the Weekender only entered Timex's catalog in the early 2010s, so the watch reads as period styling rather than a 1983 reference, and the identification is likely rather than confirmed. (Wrist Enthusiast)
- Unidentified calculator watch
- Worn by Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven. When the boys disguise Eleven with the pink dress and blonde wig in season one, a black calculator watch (reportedly Mike's, lent so she blends in) completes the outfit. The prop is a generic early-1980s piece with a horizontal layout, LCD at the left and a white keypad grid at the right, and shows no branding in any available frame; for a girl with a lab number instead of a name, a watch nobody can trace fits. (Wrist Enthusiast)
- Rolex Submariner Date
- Worn by Cary Elwes as Mayor Larry Kline. Montres de Luxe identifies a gold-and-steel Rolex Submariner Date on Mayor Kline during season 3 (2019); the article gives no episode or bracelet detail beyond the two-tone case. (Montres de Luxe)
- Casio G-Shock DW-5600STT-1
- Official product partnership, not an in-work appearance. Casio released the G-Shock DW-5600STT-1 as a Stranger Things collaboration timed to the series' fifth and final season, its dial vined for Vecna, its backlight glowing red instead of Casio's usual white, and its band loop stamped "011" for Eleven. No edition size was stated. Casio credits the license as "STRANGER THINGS™/© Netflix. Used with permission." (Casio)
- Casio AQ-800EST-1A
- Official product partnership, not an in-work appearance. Casio paired the DW-5600STT-1 with the Vintage AQ-800EST-1A, an ana-digi companion piece carrying the same vine motif and a "001" clasp cover referencing Vecna's tattoo. No edition size was stated. Casio credits the license as "STRANGER THINGS™/© Netflix. Used with permission." (Casio)
- Casio A120WEST-1A
- Official product partnership, not an in-work appearance. Casio's first Stranger Things watch, announced in May 2023 as the launch model of its 1980s-styled A120 digital line and released in Japan in June 2023 as the A120WEST-1AJF at ¥12,100, then in Asia and worldwide: the Demogorgon and red vines on the face, vines continuing across the translucent grey band and case back, and the series logo shown upside down on the LED backlight. Casio credits the license to the Netflix series; it is licensed merchandise, not a watch worn or shown in the series. (G-Central; Casio, archived)
- Timex Camper (vintage)
- Worn by Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair. Timex's own announcement of its Stranger Things collection, published on May 17, 2022 ahead of the fourth season's May 27 premiere, says "our original Timex Camper" is "sported by Lucas Sinclair in the forthcoming season", the Camper's small fixed-lug case and black 12/24-hour dial fitting a 1986 Hawkins teenager. Timex names the model but no reference, gives no episode, and does not say whether the prop is a 1980s example or a later production, so the record stays at the Camper line. The same post notes that Hopper's Timex Atlantis in earlier seasons had been discussed by prop master Lynda Reiss with Hodinkee in 2020. (Timex)Scene image neededSubmit a scene still!
