10 Real Watches in Anime, and the Studios That Bothered to Draw Them

The drawings below preserve enough detail to invite comparison with real watches, but not every comparison establishes a brand or reference. Licensed tie-in products, which never appear in the animation, are treated separately at the end.
The ten watches
1. TAG Heuer 2000 Professional — JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2014)
Steely Dan notices Jotaro Kujo’s watch and asks: "your watch, audaciously enough, is a TAG Heuer?" The watch reads as the TAG Heuer 2000 Professional, a 1980s dive series, even if the animation never fixes it to one exact reference. Steely Dan steals it during their confrontation.
2. Omega Speedmaster Professional — Death Note (2006)
Light Yagami's watch is a gift from his father and, later, a hiding place: the animation gives it a fictional compartment for a strip of the Death Note. The case is a round Omega Speedmaster Professional-style chronograph, close enough to support the family comparison but not an exact reference. Sources differ on a narrower manga-era match, including the Mark II.
3. Rolex GMT-Master II — Terror in Resonance (2014)
Shinichiro Watanabe's series puts a "Pepsi" Rolex GMT-Master II on Nine, then reletters the dial to read "Bagelsport." The joke is specific, a nod to the real-world counterfeit GMTs that copy exactly this red-and-blue bezel.
4. Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques Chronograph 47101 — Nana (2006)
Watch spotters match Yasu's gold chronograph to the Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques Chronograph 47101, specifically the 47101/000J-4 with a black guilloche dial.
5. TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 — Jujutsu Kaisen (2020)
Kento Nanami wears a steel three-register chronograph that spotters compare to the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16, specifically the CBK2112/CBK2110 generation. The anime omits the brand markings, so the resemblance does not confirm a brand or exact reference.
6. Casio G-Shock G-2500 — 5 Centimeters per Second (2007)
Takaki’s digital watch is identified as a Casio G-Shock G-2500.
7. Casio G-Shock DW-8800BJ-1 — Detective Conan (1997)
Conan's tranquilizer-dart wristwatch is a fictional gadget. G-Shock spotters compare its housing to the Casio G-Shock DW-8800BJ-1; the fiction adds the detective hardware the real watch never had.
8. Bvlgari Rettangolo RT39S — Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2002)
Motoko Kusanagi's bracelet watch resembles the Bvlgari Rettangolo RT39S in its rectangular case, integrated bracelet, and oversized 3 and 9. It is not visibly branded.
9. Patek Philippe 3970P — Golgo 13 (2008)
Duke Togo's episode 18 watch carries a perpetual-calendar layout that spotters read against the Patek Philippe 3970P. The dial is fictional-branded, so the 3970P is a visual comparator, not a confirmed reference. The later Seiko Golgo 13 collaboration watches are licensed products, not the watch drawn in this episode.
10. Alba Y448-5010 — Dragon Ball Z (1989)
In one background shot, a civilian wears an Alba Y448-5010, a 1989 digital model from Seiko's budget sub-brand. Collectors matched the exact reference even though the watch belongs to a background character and has no role in the plot.
The other kind: official watch partnerships
Rather than draw a real watch into the work, a brand licenses a real, buyable watch after it, tied to the title but worn by no one on screen. Seiko’s examples range from the 300-piece Seiko SZQV014 Cowboy Bebop diver to the Seiko 5 Naruto and Boruto character series and the Prospex Mobile Suit Gundam divers. Zenith turned Jigen's animator-invented chronograph in Lupin the Third into a run of physical El Primero editions. Tissot gave Grendizer a PRX, and Casio has released Evangelion and One Piece G-Shocks.
