The Casio G-Shock DW-5600 is the square G-Shock line that refined the 1983 original DW-5000 into the form Casio has kept in near-continuous production for nearly four decades: a resin-shrouded 42.8 mm case rated to 200 m, digital display with stopwatch, alarm, and countdown timer. No single reference covers the line's screen record, because the appearances span materially different watches: the 1987 screw-back DW-5600C with its incandescent bulb, the 1996 snap-back DW-5600E with an electro-luminescent panel, and many later variants. Its longevity is a function of durability rather than marketing, which is why it recurs as the default watch of field operatives and action leads who need a timepiece that simply will not fail.
