Eddie Murphy (born 1961, Brooklyn, New York) is an American actor and comedian who broke out on Saturday Night Live (1980–1984) and in stand-up before anchoring a run of 1980s box-office hits: 48 Hrs., Trading Places, Coming to America, and the Beverly Hills Cop films as fast-talking Detroit detective Axel Foley.
