The Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.022 is the case reference Omega ran from 1968 to 1988, the longest production span of any Moonwatch case and the one collectors label the line's fifth execution. It opened as a transitional piece, still carrying the 145.012's stepped dial and applied logo, before Omega replaced the caliber 321 chronograph movement with the manual-winding caliber 861 the family kept for decades. Dials and casebacks changed repeatedly across the year-suffixed sub-variants (145.022-68 through -80), most visibly the switch to flat dial printing around 1974, but all share the 42 mm asymmetrical steel case, black tachymeter bezel, and three-register layout that define the reference.
