Rolex GMT-Master
Photo: Collector Square
The Rolex GMT-Master is Rolex's pilot's watch family, launched in the mid-1950s with Pan American World Airways: a fourth 24-hour hand read against a rotating two-color bezel gives a second time zone at a glance. The line runs from the crown-guard-free 6542 through the long-lived 1675 and later five-digit references before the GMT-Master II succeeded it; no single reference covers the appearances recorded here, which span materially different executions and even case metals. The photograph shows a first-generation 6542.
