The Rolex Datejust 1601 is the four-digit predecessor to the 16018 that replaced it in 1977, sold from 1959 in steel, two-tone, and full gold. The 36 mm Oyster case wears a fluted bezel and a Cyclops-magnified date window at three, powered by the automatic calibre 1570 in earlier examples and the 1575 in later ones. (Bob's Watches)
